Struggle and Success, That could well sum up my Pozo event this year. I struggled worse than ever in the slalom, mainly with my mind and my motivation. I felt as if I was mentally worn out by a lot of things going on in my life recently and thus lacked some of the mental fortitude to grind out the tough racing conditions in Pozo, so I struggled to get through the slalom ending up with my worst result to date.


On the flip side of the coin, I had a strong showing in the wave performance that brought me into the equal 9th position , enough to continue my 1st place position that was established earlier in the year on the waves of Ponta Preta. One of the most exciting things this year was being able to distance a bit my personal connection to the competitive side and look at our sport as a whole and you see that windsurfing, right now, is brimming with some of the most amazing talent ever. From the acrobatic Caribbean fresstylers, to the core Brazilian posse, The Spanish Pozo strongarm to well established old-guard, the expanded UK wave talent and the young Hawaiian blood,  Windsurfing is going off.


Every single person man and woman that competed at that event this year is a a world class windsurfer. Being in that group is an honor and exciting. It's a good ride and I sure am  thankful to be on it.
