Irish Slalom Series Championship at Downings
27th July 2009
MauiSails team rider Pearse Geaney (IR100) took victory in round 4 of the Irish Slalom Series Championship at Downings, Co. Donegal on the 18-19th July 2009. The event was the biggest windsurfing event in Ireland within the past decade, with 124 competitors travelling from all over Ireland and the UK to compete. Pearse won all but one of the 8 Pro fleet races completed using his TR5-XT’s in winds ranging from 8 to 30 knots.
"My gear is working really well this year. The TR5-XT’s have a massive wind range, are really light, and can be tuned on the go for power or depower. Ok, I’m sailing well, but at the end of the day the equipment is what carries me around the course, and I am confident that in a straight line, I can overtake anyone in front of me. If I get out in front at the start, the race is over, as I have the power to pull away. I can't wait for the next round of the championship!"
