Maui Summer Slalom Series

21st June 2009

It was a fantastic day for the second race in the Maui Summer Slalom Series, solid 5.9/6.3 wind and plenty of action at the marks. You could tell it was going to be a tough one because the sand was blowing two feet deep along the beach and the some of the sailors were complaining about being out of shape.

Mauisails was well represented again with Mike Yasik taking out the 50-59 age division with another dominating performance taking all the four heats in the afternoon session. Phil McGain sailed well enough in the 40-49 age group taking three of the heats from Alex Aguera in second with Kai Hopf in third place.

Paulina Pease won three of the junior womens heats to win convincingly from Kristen Orth and another Mauisails sailor in third, Nique Vetromile.

Just another good windy day on Maui, which is still considered the most consistent and highest level of slalom racing in the world.
